We recently designed and installed this netting system across half a pond. The client has a wonderful collection of rare ducks that were being inundated by wild ducks competing for nesting space and feed, so the aim was to create a protected area for the rare breed ducks while leaving the remainder of the pond accessible to the wild ones.
Netting System Designed for Pond Protection
Secure Coverage Without Restricting the Whole Pond
To achieve the required coverage, we designed a framework of posts standing over 3.5 metres high, strutted underground and connected by a network of stainless steel stranded wire. This framework supported the bird netting while maintaining strength and stability across the pond area.
- Custom pond netting system installed across half the pond
- Posts over 3.5m high strutted underground for support
- Stainless steel stranded wire network connecting the structure
- Covered with 900mē of 50mm bird netting
- Net clipped to a bottom run of 50mm powder coated weldmesh
Weighted and Supported Across the Water
Practical Access and Discreet Design
The net across the pond was weighted to the bottom and supported with two adjustable T supports to keep the structure stable. Access to the enclosure is provided by a 2.4m high by 1.2m wide mesh panel gate, powder coated black to match the surrounding framework.
