This project saw us install new fencing at the base of the sea wall alongside the marshes at Burnham on Crouch - an important area for grazing. Funded by DEFRA, this upgrade replaced an old line of fencing that had deteriorated due to exposure and constant wet ground conditions.

Installing Chestnut Fencing at Coastal Marshes
Heavy Machinery for a Challenging Location
Reaching the Base of the Sea Wall
Due to the steep bank and awkward access, a 13-tonne machine fitted with our post driver was used to reach down to the toe of the wall. This ensured firm post placement even in the most waterlogged conditions.
  • 300m of fencing installed along sea wall base
  • 13t machine with post driver used for reach and stability
  • Challenging terrain handled safely and efficiently
  • Minimal disruption to surrounding marshland
Built to Withstand Harsh Conditions
Hot-Dipped Wire and Rot-Resistant Chestnut
To handle constant exposure to damp and salty conditions, we used Tornado HT8/80/15 high tensile wire and peeled chestnut posts - a naturally durable choice that avoids the need for chemical treatment.
  • Tornado HT8/80/15 high tensile fencing
  • Peeled chestnut posts resist rot in wet conditions
  • Ideal for sea walls, marshes and coastal zones
  • DEFRA-funded improvement project
