As part of an ongoing programme of developments at Sturgeons Farm, Writtle College, we recently installed a new main road running throughout the farm. The project was designed to improve access and durability across the site while ensuring that daily farm operations could continue without disruption.

Concrete farm road construction using PAV2 fibre mesh concrete
Durable Concrete Road Installation
Over 1200mē of PAV2 Fibre Mesh Concrete
The works involved excavating the existing type 1 road materials and relaying the surface using over 1200m2 of PAV2 concrete with fibre mesh. The installation was carried out in two phases to ensure that feed lorries could continue delivering while works were underway.
  • New main farm road installed at Writtle College
  • Existing type 1 road materials excavated and removed
  • Over 1200m2 of PAV2 fibre mesh concrete laid
  • Installation completed in two phases
  • Access maintained for feed lorry deliveries during works
Reuse of Existing Materials
Improved Access Around the Farm
The removed type 1 material was separated, with the clean material reused and relaid to improve access to storage barns and a new implement storage area, making efficient use of the existing materials on site.
