We recently completed a project creating woodchip-based foal paddocks, purpose-built to offer safer, softer footing for young horses. These bespoke paddocks provide a good underfoot surface while helping manage moisture and comfort underfoot.

      Soft, Natural Footing for Foals

      Gentle, Comfortable, and Cost‑Effective

Woodchip paddocks offer a naturally soft and sombre surface that aids joint comfort and pad safety for young horses. It's an affordable option that also helps with moisture absorption - perfect for lightly used areas or as a supportive bedding layer in nursery fields.

    - Soft, absorbent woodchip flooring for foal safety
 - Helps manage moisture without hard surfaces
 - Low-cost and quick to install
 - Suitable for temporary or seasonal enclosures
 - Provides clean, cushioned footing for young equines

      Practical, Thoughtful, and Horse-Friendly

Ideal for Development Areas and Sensitive Paddocks

While woodchip provides immediate comfort, it may require replenishment over time. For higher durability, consider adding a geotextile beneath or rotating paddocks. Still, for foals settling into their first grazing areas, it's a thoughtful and effective surface solution.

    - Offers cushioning without permanent groundwork
 - Can be refreshed or adapted as terrain evolves
 - Great for early-phase paddocks or nursery zones
 - Blends organically with rural landscapes
 - Supports early hoof development in young horses
