Uttlesford District Council recently appointed us to replace rotten and damaged softwood knee rails that were no longer fit for purpose. To improve durability and reduce ongoing maintenance, we upgraded to sawn oak posts and reinstated the existing rails as requested.
Built for Longevity and Access
Durable Timber, Practical Design
We installed 4x4 inch sawn oak posts with precision-drilled 50mm holes, allowing the existing rails to slide in and out easily. This clever design ensures full access for grass cutting and maintenance, while maintaining a strong visual boundary.
- Client: Uttlesford District Council
- Rotten softwood posts replaced with premium oak
- Rails retained and refitted as per client spec
- Weathered post tops for a smart finish
- Posts allow slide-out rails for mower access
